Superintendent Dan Troxell Tuesday appointed Dr. Laurelyn Arterbury, a 17-year veteran educator, as an area superintendent for Leander ISD.

Arterbury has served since July 2016 as executive director of college and career pathways at LISD. For the previous four years, she was principal of Westwood High School in Round Rock ISD, where she managed a campus of 2,700 students, 250 staff members and an annual budget of more than $350,000. She taught and was an assistant principal at Stony Point High School and 9th Grade Center in Round Rock for eight years until 2012.

Effective May 1, Arterbury becomes one of three area superintendents leading LISD’s 41 schools and more than 38,000 students, replacing retiring area superintendent Eric Haug. Leander ISD is the fastest growing school district in the Austin area.

“Dr. Arterbury is a tremendous educational leader with a proven record of achievement,” Dr. Troxell said. “Her leadership will help us continue Leander ISD’s daily focus on student success.”

She holds a doctorate in education from Texas A&M University, a master’s in educational administration from Texas State University, and a bachelor’s in history from the University of Texas at Austin.
