Secondary Summer School

Location: Vista Ridge High School

Summer School:
Session 1: June 18 – July 3; 8 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Monday – Friday
Session 2: July 11 – July 27; 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. Monday – Friday

Afternoon Credit Recovery (MUST be a current Leander ISD student)
Session 1: June 18 – July 3; 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. Monday – Thursday
Session 2: July 11 – July 27; 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Thursday

Second Session Registration:
Students wishing to register for second session summer school can come to the summer school office between the hours of 8 a.m.-1 p.m., June 28-29, July 2-3 and July 9-10.

Please do not register until you are sure you need the class.
Note: Registration for camps/summer school will not work on a mobile device. Registration will only work on a laptop or desktop computer.

Secondary Summer Transportation Routes
Note: No transportation provided for Afternoon Credit Recovery. Please be at your bus stop 5 minutes before the pick-up time. During the summer, we do not pick up at each home, but there are stops throughout the district. Please go to the stop closest to your home. Buses return to these morning stops after summer school ends. If you have questions, please contact transportation at 512-570-0700.

Cost:
$185 per session for in-district students, $225 for out-of-district students, In-District Transportation $60 per session

Attendance:
With limited days per session, attendance is extremely important. Please plan to attend every day of summer school. Students will be dropped from the course on the third absence without a refund. Three tardies equal one absence. Students may not miss a final exam or take it early.

Code of Conduct:
All policies/procedures stated in the LISD current Student and Parent Handbook are in effect during summer school. Any major infraction, i.e. tobacco, alcohol, drug infractions, etc., will result in immediate disciplinary action, which may include removal. No refunds will be given.

More Information:

  • Middle School is ONLY open to in-district students who attend an LISD schools.
  • High School is open to in-district and out-of-district students.
  • Classes are dependent upon registration numbers. This is no guarantee that all classes will make. You will be refunded if the class does not make.
  • Registration is open until summer school begins or until the classes are full.
  • See your current campus guidance counselor prior to registering to get approval to take the course.
  • ALL courses taken for high school credit WILL COUNT towards the student's high school GPA.
  • Pre-AP and AP courses are not offered in summer school.
  • Please select classes carefully and do not register until you are sure that your child needs the course. There are NO REFUNDS.

 

Middle School

For Course Recovery only and only for students who are currently enrolled in an LISD middle school. If a student fails two or more academic classes, he/she is required to attend summer school to be promoted.

Students will select 2 classes from the list to regaining credit for promotion to the next grade:
6th, 7th or 8th Grade Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies 

8th graders entering high school may take the following for acceleration:
Algebra I, World Geography, Art 1, Spanish I or Spanish II.

These courses will count toward your high school GPA and are not offered at the pre-AP level.

High School

For Course Recovery and Acceleration. If you are taking a year-long course for original credit, you will need to sign up for both summer school sessions. Each summer session equals one semester. A = semester one and B = semester two.

Math Courses: Algebra I, Geometry, AQR, Math Models, Algebra II and Pre-Calculus*
English Courses: English I*, English II*, English III and English IV 
Science Courses: Biology*, IPC, Environmental Systems, Chemistry* and Physics* 
Social Studies: World Geography, World History, US History*, Government and Economics
Electives: Spanish I & II, Health (12th-graders only), Communication Applications (12th-graders only), Art I
