The purpose of LISD's dyslexia program is to provide students with the skills and strategies needed to "unlock" the code of reading. Students who qualify for dyslexia services are instructed using multisensory structured language programs. The LISD dyslexia service model is designed to provide reading intervention for children identified as having the characteristics of dyslexia.

The goal of these services is for students to gain mastery of the skills needed to become independent readers.
