In-District Transfer Requests

Current Leander ISD students who want to transfer to another school within the district that is accepting transfers for 2017-2018 must submit a transfer application between Feb. 13, 2017, and March 19, 2017. (Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten transfer applications will be accepted between April 12-21, 2017.)

Applications for 1st through 12th grade submitted between Feb. 13 and March 19 will be reviewed, and parents will be notified by April 21, 2017.

Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten requests submitted between April 12-21 will be reviewed, and parents will be notified by May 20.

Applications received after these dates will not be reviewed until two weeks prior to the start of school.

Students who will enter Leander ISD in the 2017-18 school year should first be registered at their home campus. A transfer request can be submitted once registration is complete.

All student transfer requests must be submitted online, with the exception of the following, which must be processed manually at the campus:

  • PSLP-Preschool Speech & Language Program
  • English Language Learners
  • ELE/SLE-Early Learning Environment/Structured Learning Environment
  • LEIP-Language Enrichment Intervention Program
  • Out-of-district pending residency
  • Out-of-district employee – student NOT registered in LISD

LISD does not accept out-of-district transfer requests pursuant to Board Policy FDA (local), except in the following cases:

  • LISD employee children (campus assignment will depend on space and staffing availability)
  • Students moving into the district within 60 days (move-in date and proof of residency must be provided)
  • Resident students who move out of the district during the school year may continue to the end of the current semester only.

Approval of the above transfer requests is subject to the student's good standing in attendance, behavior, grade and tardies, as well as program space availability.

Once the application and processing fee is received, the transfer application will be reviewed for approval/denial. Processing timeline is dependent on time of year, as well as priority of transfer. Priority levels are as follows:

  • Program transfers
  • Fifth-graders who attended campus in prior years
  • Students of employees who work at the requested campus
  • Siblings of eligible fifth-grade transfer students
  • Rezoned students currently attending the requested campus (does not apply to students rezoned to a campus on a reverse moratorium)
  • Incoming siblings (Pre-K/kindergarten) of rezoned students
  • Students of LISD employees who do not work at the requested campus
  • Existing transfer students
  • Incoming siblings of existing transfer students

Transfer applications with incomplete data will not be processed; i.e. all blanks should be filled in, and all terms and conditions must be agreed to, including the section regarding athletic participation.

Please note on the form the method by which you wish to receive approval/denial of the student transfer request; i.e. email, regular mail, other. If no box is checked, you will receive notification via regular mail.
