Board sets budget with employee raises, new positions for 1,100 new students

Trustees adopted a $326.3 million operating budget, including funding for 3 percent salary raises for all employees, 138 new jobs, and almost $1 million for healthcare contributions for retired and current employees. The tax rate remains at $1.51 per $100 valuation for the sixth consecutive year. With debt and food service budgets added to operations, the total amount equals $443.8 million. Voters to decide on Bond pack to fund four new schools, improve buildings across
LISD


LISD will host a Nov. 7 Bond election for $454.4 million to address growth, safety and improvements to existing facilities. The District plans to build four new schools in four years, expand Vandegrift High School, and add Career and Technical Education (CTE) classrooms to accommodate for growth. A Bond Advisory Committee (BAC) worked throughout the spring to compile and prioritize project lists, which the board reviewed and amended to add additional CTE classrooms for its final proposal. Board updates Student Code of Conduct for dress code, bullying

The Board approved updates to the Student Code of Conduct to include oversight of cyberbullying, establish parent notification protocols for alleged bullying, and to restrict hats and tights/leggings in student dress code.
